Energy retrofit through a perforated façade

The perforated facade, or claustra, is a second skin set in front of the building. It filters solar radiation before it reaches the glazing and addresses summer comfort where insulation alone is no longer enough.
This device brings together three answers in a single move: summer thermal comfort, control of daylight and privacy from the outside.
It is a line of research specific to the practice, developed around an architecture of double skins and applied both to the refurbishment of existing buildings and to new construction.
Construction relies on the expertise of our partner craftspeople, in timber, terracotta or metal depending on context and budget.
SERVICE STAGES

- We draw the claustra grid: density, depth, material and rhythm, according to the comfort sought and the building’s architectural expression.
- We check planning rules, file the necessary permit and oversee installation with the craftspeople.
